The idea of making jewelry from glass was spontaneous, and before I knew it, it had occupied my parents’ entire garage. My work is a constant process of playing with colors, shapes, and pushing the limits of crafting with such a unique material as glass.

Since each piece is made by hand, they all have their own little story. Some were cooperative, while others had a mind of their own—but that’s the nature of glass.  It’s unpredictable and I appreciate every twist and turn along the way.

About me

The name BOKIKIBA emerged when my friend and I lived together in Milan. We’d always ask each other if a certain object looked more like a 'Kiki' or a 'Bouba.' It was our spin on the Bouba-Kiki effect - a psychological phenomenon where people associate certain shapes with specific sounds (it’s fun, trust me, look it up!). Throughout my journey, I have always felt a stronger connection to the round and gentle forms. However, much like the concept of Yin and Yang, balance plays a vital role in everything. This leads to the interesting idea that a material typically associated with sharpness, like glass, can be transformed into pieces that embody the softness and roundness that I adore. This harmony of contrasting is the essence of BOKIKIBA.

Custom

Every glass ring you order is individually crafted by hand, as I personally design and create each piece myself. The rings are annealed at about 530°C in a kiln to increase their durability and remove internal stress. As each session takes around 10 hours, I batch anneal them, which is the most efficient way to manage time, save energy, and be environmentally conscious. Therefore, during special ordering periods - often lasting about two weeks - you can place your custom orders. Once the window closes, I’ll finish and pop them all into the kiln at once before shipping them on the designated date.

If you are able to place an order through the "custom" tab, it means the drop is live. Please check the shipping date beforehand, so you're aware of the production time and when your piece will be shipped out.
